Jody Meese is a professional lettering artist who relishes the variety of projects, venues, styles, and media she works with, including commercial chalkboards, illuminated manuscripts, and calligraphic engraving at on-site events. Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, she has clients all over the US. Jody considers herself a recovering flutist, having played professionally with orchestras in Hartford, Los Angeles, Mexico City, Salt Lake City, and San Francisco. She holds degrees in music from the Hartt School (University of Hartford) and California Institute of the Arts and attended the Academy of Art University for calligraphy. She is a member of San Francisco Friends of Calligraphy, Society for Calligraphy of Southern California, Pacific Scribes, Atlanta Friends of the Alphabet, and Washington Calligraphers Guild. Currently, she is First Vice President of the International Association of Master Penmen, Engrossers & Teachers of Handwriting (IAMPETH) and will chair their 2020 conference in Atlanta, Georgia.
