Richard Crookes lives in Hua Hin, Thailand and has more than 40 years’ experience as a freelance artist, illustrator, woodworker, and professional calligrapher. He is a graduate of the Advanced Training Scheme of the Society of Scribes and Illuminators. He is more widely known for his design and illustration work on oracle card decks, including The Astrology Reading Cards, the award-winning Angels of Atlantis Oracle Cards, and the Angel and Gemstone Guardians Cards series.

A bit of a restless creative, Richard has recently been exploring improvisational, contemplative music and runs a small record label called Wu Wei Records. He produced a solo album of improvisational music called the Calligraphy of Sound which is available on all download platforms. He sees his explorations into music as exactly the same development of calligraphic skills—attention to detail, rhythm, spacing, and flourishing in particular. He also plays clarinet, koto, and taishogoto.
