Laurie, a native Houstonian, has always enjoyed being an artist. Even from an early age, she knew that that was what she wanted to be when she grew up! Growing up with creative parents and other artists in her family, Laurie had that creative gene that propelled her into trying various artistic mediums. Having a fascination for antiques and “old things”, her first remembrance of Calligraphy was at the age of 10 when visiting Williamsburg, Virginia. Seeing the docents demonstrate writing with quill pens on parchment paper was so appealing!! After dabbling with lettering throughout high school and then taking courses in college, Laurie went to the first Houston Calligraphy Guild meeting in 1979. Now after almost 40 years, Laurie is an active member and a freelance graphic designer in Houston, Texas.
